Richmond Hill’s New Micromobility Strategy: What You Should Know
On Sept 24, 2025, Richmond Hill Council approved its Micromobility Strategy and By-law to regulate e-bikes, e-scooters, and similar devices. Personal e-scooters are now allowed on roads (≤50 km/h), bike lanes, and multi-use paths. Sidewalk use is prohibited, except for youth under 14 on traditional bikes. Enforcement will begin with education, supported by City by-law officers and York Regional Police. A shared micromobility pilot may be explored with nearby municipalities.
