Despite past efforts, salt levels continue to rise, harming drinking water and aquatic life. Councillor Davidson's motion urges Ontario to enact limited liability legislation, enforceable contractor training, and standard salt use practices—and commits to further reducing road salt use while ensuring public safety.

Tiny Tunnels for Protecting the Endangered Jefferson Salamanders
Upcoming Road Closure – Stouffville Road (Bayview to Leslie)
Stouffville Road will be closed between Bayview Ave. and Leslie St. from July 2–4, 2025, for the installation of wildlife tunnels to protect endangered Jefferson Salamanders. These permanent tunnels support species recovery and reduce future road closures. Emergency and local access will be maintained; through traffic is not permitted. Signs will guide drivers. Dates may change due to weather.

Motion - Councillor Davidson - Feasibility of banning fireworks in the City of Richmond Hill
On Victoria Day, Richmond Hill Fire responded to a grass fire in Oak Ridges caused by fireworks misuse. Due to ongoing complaints about illegal fireworks, I have submitted a motion to Council requesting staff to assess the feasibility of a ban. The report will explore alternative celebrations, cost and environmental impacts, municipal policy comparisons, and complaint and enforcement analysis.

It's Almost Done: Oak Ridges Smell - Air Management Facility
The Oak Ridges Air Management Facility (ORAMF) is undergoing final commissioning, including equipment testing and calibration. A key 14-day trial in July will begin odorous air treatment, followed by a 45-day operational phase to ensure peak performance during summer. The Region prioritizes effective odour management.
