King Road Improvements Completed
York Region has completed improvements to King Road from Yonge Street to Bond Crescent. Upgrades include a rebuilt roadway, new watermain and storm sewers, improved intersections at Parker Ave. and Yonge, upgraded streetlights, a continuous south-side sidewalk, stormwater quality measures, and a new YRT passenger area. Thank you to residents, businesses, and travellers for your patience during construction.

Protecting Our Turtles: Nest Box Pilot Program Comes to Lake Wilcox
We’re excited to partner with Oak Ridges Turtles and Turtle Guardians on a pilot Turtle Nest Box Program at Channel Gate Parkette, Lake Wilcox Channel, and North Lake Road. 🐢 These 2’x2’ wooden nest boxes with wire mesh help protect eggs from predators like raccoons, giving hatchlings a better chance to survive. Boxes will be removed once the turtles emerge in late summer, fall, or spring. A small step with a big impact for local wildlife! 🌱💚

Council Public Meeting September 2 - Richmond Hill Zoning Update & Feedback
The City of Richmond Hill is combining and updating all its zoning rules into one new Comprehensive Zoning By-law. This will replace older by-laws and set clear, modern rules for what can be built, where, and how. It covers neighbourhoods, growth centres, green spaces, and job areas. The goal is to support housing, protect the environment, and plan growth around transit. Council is now asking for public comments before the new by-law is finalized.

New Safety Measures at Stouffville Road and Bridgewater Drive
York Region is implementing new safety measures at the intersection of Stouffville Road and Bridgewater Drive, including:
Installing speed reduction pavement markings and an overhead intersection flashing light to encourage drivers to slow down
Relocating the stop bar pavement marking and stop sign to increase visibility.

Traffic Signals are coming to the intersection at Bayview and Bethesda
York Region is upgrading Bayview Ave & Bethesda Sideroad in Richmond Hill to ease traffic. Phase 1 starts Sept 2025 with new signals; lane restrictions apply weekdays 9:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m. Phase 2 begins in 2026, adding a multi-use path on Bayview’s west side (Bayview Park Lane to Bloomington Rd), plus new signals and a left-turn lane at Bayview & Anchusa Dr.

Design Notice – Fergus Avenue, Moray Avenue, Olde Bayview Avenue, Capelle Street Reconstruction
The City plans to rebuild Fergus, Moray, Olde Bayview, and Capelle streets in 2027 (pending approval), including new pavement, watermain replacement, sewer upgrades, and better lighting. Homeowners must redirect sump pumps or private storm drains that currently flow into roadside ditches to drain within their property. The City is asking residents to report any known drain locations to help coordinate the work.
