In Richmond Hill, several key categories declined, including fraud, residential break and enter, mischief, assaults and theft under $5,000. These are the everyday crimes residents most often experience, so decreases here are particularly meaningful. Only a few minor increases were reported, and none showed a significant spike.

Across York Region overall, the pattern was more mixed. Some categories rose, including impaired driving, assaults and arson, while others such as fraud and residential break and enter declined. The regional numbers show progress in some areas but less consistency than what we saw locally this week.

What this means for residents is simple: our community experienced a quieter week than the regional average, especially in property-related crime.

Police continue proactive patrols and targeted enforcement, and residents play an important role by reporting suspicious activity, locking vehicles and homes, and staying aware of their surroundings.

Community safety is a shared effort. Small actions by many people help maintain these positive trends.
