On the Agenda:
A development application has been submitted for the existing gas station at the northwest corner of Yonge Street and Weldrick Road West. The owner, Suncor Energy Products Partnership, is asking the City to allow a restaurant with a drive-through, along with upgrades to the current site.

If approved, the existing convenience store building would be demolished and replaced with a new building that would include an A&W restaurant, a drive-through lane, and a new convenience store/pay station. The gas pumps and car wash would remain, although the canopy over the pumps would be replaced. No new fuel pumps are being added.
Access to the site would change. The existing southern entrance from Yonge Street would be closed, while the northern Yonge Street entrance and the Weldrick Road West entrance would remain open. The layout of parking, landscaping, and internal traffic flow would also be adjusted
City planning staff have completed a preliminary review and confirmed that this type of use is generally supported by the City’s Official Plan. No objections have been raised by City departments or external agencies so far, although refinements will be required at the site plan stage
This report is being presented for information and public input. No final decision has been made yet.
