Community Safety Update for Richmond Hill

York Regional Police data from the past year highlights meaningful progress alongside several areas that still require attention.

We are seeing decreases in several categories, including break-ins, vehicle thefts, drug violations, firearm-related offences, and homicides. These improvements matter.

At the same time, some serious crimes, including assaults, robberies, and high-value thefts, have increased. Even small increases deserve our attention.

Public safety is about more than policing. It includes good lighting, safe street design, youth programs, mental health supports, and strong community connections.

I will continue working with York Regional Police, City staff, and community partners to ensure resources are focused where they are needed most and that residents stay informed.

If you ever have concerns about safety in your neighbourhood, please reach out. Your voice matters.
